Edu-Port Japan: Creating learning opportunities for children in Sri Lanka

Surala Net Co., Ltd. has been selected as one of the implementers of 2022 Edu-Port Japan projects by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The project will be aimed at supporting children whose education has been disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the subsequent country’s worst economic crisis and nation-wide fuel shortage.

In collaboration with Next Learners (Pvt) Ltd., local affiliated company in Sri Lanka, Surala Net has been addressing educational equality issues and improving mathematics learning of children who are supported by NGOs such as SOS Children’s Villages and Child Action Lanka. Surala Net has also worked with a women’s microfinance institution to provide mathematics education for children of low-income families.

The EDU-Port Japan is a public-private initiative to present Japanese-style education overseas. It is supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
