Students aiming to work in Japan or at Japanese companies in Indonesia have built up their Japanese language skills from scratch through self-study with Surala Nihongo at Mitra High School.
It was introduced because the school, with more than 1,000 students per grade, is facing a shortage of Japanese language teachers.

Due to the shortage of Japanese language teachers, class offerings were limited.
To address this, Surala Nihongo was introduced as a self-study program in classrooms during mornings and after school.
Its integrated flow of lectures, drills, and tests allows students to learn independently from scratch.
While Japanese teachers rotate between classes, homeroom teachers support students’ learning, improving both the quality and quantity of instruction.

The digital format also fosters independent study habits.
As a result, the number of students taking the JLPT has tripled in one year, with more students passing as well.
